Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp matcha powder (culinary grade)
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup white chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Sift in the matcha powder, flour, baking soda, and salt, and mix until a dough forms.
- Fold in the white chocolate chips evenly.
- Drop tablespoon-sized scoops of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are golden and centers are set.
- Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra crunch, add chopped pistachios or macadamia nuts.
Use ceremonial grade matcha for a brighter green and stronger flavor.
Swap white chocolate for dark chocolate for a less sweet version.
Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top after baking for added texture.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days with a slice of bread to maintain softness.
