Ingredients

For the Casserole:

1 pound ground breakfast sausage

6 cups biscuits, baked and cut into quarters (homemade or store-bought)

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

6 large eggs

2 cups milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

For the Gravy:

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups milk

Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, cook sausage over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Melt butter in the same skillet, add flour to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Whisk in 2 cups of milk gradually until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Whisk eggs, 2 cups milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl.
  6. Place quartered biscuits in the baking dish.
  7. Add cooked sausage over biscuits, then pour gravy on top.
  8. Sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly over the casserole.
  9. Pour egg mixture over the casserole.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes until set and golden brown.
  11. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Customize with your favorite cheese or additional seasonings.

Can be prepared ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking.
