Ingredients
For the Casserole:
1 pound ground breakfast sausage
6 cups biscuits, baked and cut into quarters (homemade or store-bought)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
6 large eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
For the Gravy:
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a skillet, cook sausage over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Melt butter in the same skillet, add flour to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Whisk in 2 cups of milk gradually until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
- Whisk eggs, 2 cups milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl.
- Place quartered biscuits in the baking dish.
- Add cooked sausage over biscuits, then pour gravy on top.
- Sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly over the casserole.
- Pour egg mixture over the casserole.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until set and golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
